Shevonne Hunt from Kinderling Kids Radio in conversation with Ruth Tofler-Riesel, Rachael Spitzer and Claudia Bowman.
At Kin & Kind, we're all about the midweek, morning me-time. But we're hearing some parents are missing out (and others just want stimulating conversation at night. With wine. Or is that just us?) so we're thrilled to announce our first evening event, on a topic that's close to our hearts ... Raising Kind & Grateful Kids.
Teaching our kids to say “thank you” is important, but truly instilling a sense of gratitude in them is another matter entirely. Gratitude goes beyond good manners — it’s a mindset and a lifestyle. Likewise, kindness isn’t something we’re born with—it’s something we’re taught. At this dynamic panel event you'll hear from three wise and inspiring women who will be sharing their insights and tips on how can we help our kids learn to live gratefully and focus them (and ourselves) on what really matters by parenting for—and with—kindness.
And did we mention there's drinks?
Price: $40 ($5 from every ticket will go to Kids Giving Back) includes a glass of wine
Time: Doors open at 7pm, event starts at 7.30pm
Venue: OneSpace, 66 Bondi Rd, Bondi Junction
Please note, there's no creche available for this event.
MEET THE PANEL
Ruth is the co-founder and director of KIDS GIVING BACK, a local organisation that makes it easy for kids to do good, by providing volunteer opportunities for young people and their families. Ruth has volunteered with her own family both locally as well as internationally, wanting to instil her son with experiences which would teach him compassion from a young age. She believes that when our children are deeply involved with giving to others, they inevitably gain as much as they give. Kin & Kind are proud to give $5 from every ticket to this terrific organisation.
Rachael is a mum of two boys, a social worker and former deputy principal. She currently works at various inner city schools, facilitating "Tuning in to Kids", an evidence-based parenting program that focuses on the emotional connection between parents and children.
Claudia is a mum of three, a cheesemonger, and the superhero you’ve never heard of. Moved to action by the struggles and injustices that surround her, she regularly lobbies government and local council and appeals to the hearts of those within her orbit to care, to make a difference and to reach beyond their own apathy to change the status quo.
Shevonne Hunt is a presenter, journalist, producer, and mum of two. After developing her career in community radio and ABC radio covering current affairs and lifestyle topics she shifted to presenting Kinderling Conversation, a daily parenting show, on Kinderling Kids Radio.
Shevonne is a trusted voice, filtering out the excess noise and giving parents and carers the information they want. This covers everything from tips on starting solids, to understanding toddler tantrums and how to maintain a healthy, happy relationship with your partner. She also writes honest, funny and uplifting op-ed pieces for several national online publications such as Daily Life, Essential Kids and Kidspot.
